Our Experiment in Belize

This is, at the moment, a hypothetical discussion for an experimental community in Belize. The intent is to revisit the idea of a sustainable community and eco-lodge exemplifying the motto of 'act local, think global'. This site is to help shape the discussions around the fundamental philosophies and principles necessary for a successful implementation.

Come back later. Or stick around. No problem either way. But there really isn't anything here. But if there was... wow. You'd like it. It's pretty cool.

Seriously.

Our Challenge:

Well, we have a lot of great ideas... but no real direction yet, or a reasonable plan. We don't know what everyone wants. There are so many awesome properties, which would be so coooool, but cost waaaaay too much. I mean, dude... there are lots of them. Check back later when we have a better idea of what we want to REALLY do... then we'll understand the constraints. Until then, I like your enthusiasm: you managed to read all the way to the bottom.

Our Mission:

  • Live in Belize, or at least visit a whole lot more often.
  • Meet people, and explore low tech, sustainable living
  • Something else

Our Goals:

  • Understand who, and what we all want to do
  • What we all see as the perfect place to go
  • What we all think 'success' looks like
  • How we can all live together, have fun, make friends, learn new things, and not want to hurt each other
  • Build a plan for what we want the 'perfect property to have'
  • Determine how we'll fund the purchase, and initial development
  • Understand the order of operations for after we purchase the property
  • Have a plan on equipment and supplies needed
